Who Is Adekunle?
What if nothing good could come out of Nazareth?
‘It can only get better!’,
his daily constant chorus to the world’s crazy verses.
He knew what he knew;
That he carried immense treasure in his clay vault
Shielded from the interference of human frailties,
intellectual permutations and manipulations.
He knew he was born to fly,
he spread his wings but life knocked the eaglet out
time and time again,
a training in disguise that matured the mould-breaker.
Again, he spread his wings of grace and diligence
Soared in the adventure of his imagination,
no limitation entertained,
Amidst the storm, revelation held his calm
Above the storm, he soared resting in God’s cushion palm,
Right there the rejected stone became a precious gemstone,
desired by the high and low.
Adekunle became a chief cornerstone
in the space destined for him and by him-
A crowned Prince
certified by grace and diligence,
defeated PRINCE2 and his allies, walked over giants and armies that crushed others.
Adekunle’s fertile faith remained strong;
Surrounded and battered by troubles,
Knocked down and knocked out,
He strengthened his weary fist, buckled his rugged shoes
got up, got back to class, and kept going.
Hopelessness rang his bell
helplessness knocked on his door
cluelessness climbed his bed at night
yet, his faith never bowed to the storms.
His passion for his vision and potential
Was the blood pumping with full pressure
from his heart through the streets of his being.
What manner of man is he?
This man knew what he knew
That he was a mustard seed;
The least of seeds that only needed the opportunity of the right soil,
And would become a giant tree.
In secret, Adekunle wrapped his mental root around core principles
Slowly, but surely, he arrested the attention of principals.
With the acumen of Zacchaeus, he washed hands with them
Got their invite to the dining table.
Dressed in the jacket of humility,
Face adorned with courage and
Lips sharpened with wisdom,
he dined at their table
warmed and won their hearts.
Martins (only God knows where he got the name) rose to be the toast of male and female.
No trick no fluke
he had mastered his art and seasoned his onions
becoming a rude spice for the garnishing of meals.
‘It can only get better!’,
his daily constant chorus to the world’s crazy verses,
became flesh, beheld, and held in his arms.
Adekunle had always desired intellectual fondling
A major part of sexual fantasy.
He had his thoughts and choice
but God’s own were higher and stronger, and wouldn’t leave him haywire.
The eternal plan rolled into time
Faith stumbled on purpose on ‘minding-my-business’ street
Nothing made sense at all
‘Ore, pray with me’, his shaky request that sunny afternoon.
God had fashioned his fantasy in such a package he wouldn’t consider
The queen of fun herself, Fun-ke;
Witty, yet simple
Charming, yet unadorned
Strong, yet tender
Courageous, yet tactful
Wild, yet cautious
Godly, yet dangerous to be messed with
God hid His purpose in his son’s plain sight
And every movable piece got moved for the entrance of destiny.
Stars sparkled in their sky
Lightning splashed in their souls
The music of love played and the drum of purpose rolled
God loved their harmony and rewarded them with the stewardship of stars
Starting with Richard born in God’s own country,
A master blend of two exotic recipes.
Could anything good come out of Nazareth?
Wrong question!
The place plays no defining role to the determined soul.
Adekunle rose from that grassland to be a garden of fortune.
Yes, he knows the feeling of grass to the skin and its taste to the soul
Yet, He knows who and whose he is.
‘I began from grass, but I’m not of grass’, his soul sings
as his little fingers caress the keys of the board.
Grace is his space and he epitomizes it with class.
Can you envy his status?
Another wrong question!
But, why not, so long you embrace his rugged journey…
Adekunle, the man defining his own class.
